Gentry
County, Missouri Veterans History Project
The
Carnegie Public Library is hosting a Gentry County War Veterans History Project.
The Library of Congress has authorized this project to collect and
preserve audio and video histories of America’s war veterans and
those who served in support of them. The Veterans History Project covers World War I, World War II,
and the Korean, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf wars, including today’s
Iraq War. This project includes participants in those wars—-men and women, civilian and
military.
There are 19 million war veterans living in the U.S. today, but every day we
lose 1,700 of them. The Veteran’s History Project’s goal is to collect their stories and
experiences while they are still among us.
The Carnegie Library invites all community
war veterans and their
families to share their stories, which will be saved in written and videotaped format.
Please call the Library and let us know if you or your family member's
name needs to be added. As these veterans share their recollections, we will make those
available here on the Library's website.
